Day 1
Scenic mountain flight to Lukla, then an easy trek down to Phakding along the Dudh Koshi river.
Day 2
Climb through pine forest to the Sherpa capital of the Khumbu, with your first close views of Everest en route.
Day 3
Rest day in Namche with an optional hike up to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic mountain views.
Day 4
Visit the Sherpa villages of Khumjung and Khunde, including a local monastery and school.
Day 5
Trek to Tengboche for a close-up view of Ama Dablam and a visit to the Khumbu's most important monastery.
Day 6
Descend back through rhododendron forest to Namche Bazaar.
Day 7
Final descent to Lukla, with a farewell dinner in the evening.
Day 8
Morning flight back to Kathmandu. A spare day is recommended given the unpredictability of mountain flights.
